Warrior

‘Warrior’  was inspired by the unwavering strength of babies in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit . The strength and support of their families is honoured by the adult hand holding the baby’s through it all. 

Before I moved into full-time illustration, I worked as a midwife in a busy Dublin maternity hospital. The NICU was always a place of great curiosity for me and I got the opportunity to work there for a period during my training, I jumped at it .There,  I witnessed firsthand the power of education,  of love,of support and how all those things together could change the lives of so many. 

When I later became a mother myself, the reality of what all those babies and parents were fighting for hit me on a whole new level. The NIU is a place where medicine meets miracles and it was my honour to create a piece of art to mark that experience.
