Birthed

‘Birthed’ is an illustration I created with the aim of capturing the wonder and work involved in a baby being born via c-section. 
Caesarean section births are not a positive experience for everybody but it is my belief, with absolute certainty, that they are still a birth. it is important to me that all women know however their babies arrived into this world, they did not fail and they did give birth. 

I think it will be a really positive thing to have artwork like this displayed openly in family homes and medical facilities, normalising what is today a very normal event. 

From the initial thought, to the drawing, from the printing to the packaging and posting ,every step has been finished by hand in my home here in West Cork ,Ireland.

’Emma Flynn Creative’ is a small artist-lead business. Every aspect of which is created and run by me. As a result,  should external factors (aka sick children) cause an  unforeseen disruption in the working week the completion  time of your order may vary.
